My Top 3 Goal Setting Strategies (& How To Apply Them)

Hi kawaii + creative family!

I’ve been such an advocate of goal setting lately (check out my monthly goals) and thought I’d stop by with something helpful ~

The best goal setting strategies for creatives ^.^
(according to IKB 🙋🏾‍♀️🤣)

Goals are extremely important and can be boiled down to three main ideals:
1. A goal is better than no goal
2. A specific goal is better than a broad goal
3. A hard and specific goal is better than an easy goal

but the idea of goal setting (even down to the tiniest, most critical detail) is taken for granted by a lot of creatives.

This largely contributes to stunting our own growth and more important

preventing us from getting the bag 💰💸>.<

I won’t take the time to beat you over the head about the importance of goals or anything …

But if you want to share your goals, as a fellow creative, and have some accountability, join my Dreampreneur Mastermind. ^.^

It’s 🔥🔥🔥!

I crush my goals most months, using these 3 goal setting strategies.

And if you’re looking to create a process that works for you, I HIGHLY recommend these for any creative’s success ~

3 Goal Setting Strategies

1. BSQ (Big, Small, Quick)

Think Big

Define your ultimate goal

Act Small

Identify the milestones that will help you make that goal

Move Quick

Come up with a timeline for achieving each milestone

I call this your ☁🌈 ☁DREAM BIG GOAL☁🌈☁

… an (actionable) intention …

This goal may take months, even, years to meet. and that’s ok!

It’ll be necessary to unpack this goal and allow it to take you on an inspired journey, filled with tasks to keep you engaged + focused.

With a dream big goal identified, you can use the remaining 2 strategies to find the best goals for acting small and a realistic timeline to move quick!

2. OKRs

Objectives

broad goals what you hope to carry out, that are not measurable

Key Results

key results are based on objectives and almost always defined with a specific number.

January’s OKR was to grow my Facebook fanpage to 10K
February’s goal is to organize YUME Create Club content (my key result is pretty self-explanatory ^.^)

I call these PUSH goals~

(the one goal that will help you achieve everything else, easier)

These goals are great for the audience building or product creation portion of an creative brand businesses building audiences or creating products.

Now if you need to get even more specific, stand by for my all time favorite goal setting strategy ~

3. S.M.A.R.T.

Specific

answer the five “W” questions (who, what, where, why, which) to make greater specificity

Measurable

can your goal be measured? How will you know when you’ve achieved your goal?

(OKR’s are ok here to! ^.^)

Attainable

is it “realistic” or possible to meet the goal you’ve set for yourself?

Relevant

a relevant goal means that it has the potential to impact your objectives, vision, or values

Time-sensitive

give yourself a  deadline + get sh!t done ^.^

SMART is my favorite strategy because it is easy to understand, to act on, and to follow up with.

I talk about these a lot, especially for practical organization, planning, and implementation. ^.^

And that’s it!

Cheers to another secret shared … the best goal setting strategies for creatives ^.^
