DC Kawaii Style

I Have a Dream … for More Kawaii in DC!

Hi friends and happy Martin Luther King day!

For a lot of us in the States who were funnelled through the public school system, we were taught about Martin Luther King, his beliefs and mission, his dream and bold actions to achieve equality for all!

I find myself often wanting a more kawaii DC because while it may not help us achieve equality, we can possibly gain (more) empathy for each other (it’s seriously lacking), regardless of race, color or creed. I  think that’s a good start yeah?! So I started doing some research on how to illustrate these feels, past words but through a kawaii filter. I found this SUPER inspirational art project for kids …

but it would be a great thing for adults to … and afterwards, a warm discussion where we can explore kawaii as it relates to our feelings and the treatment of others. I HAVE to put this together. Maybe that’s a great start to the courses we are putting together to better introduce kawaii culture and its philosophies to DC.

Anywhoo, be inspired today! Stand up for something that impacts YOU and remember to dream. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and be amazing so you can set sail to touch them regardless of your confines and circumstances.

And if you’re not quite there yet, here’s a the iconic I Have a Dream Speech as your pick-me-up for the day! ❤
